New multipurpose terminal in Pointe Noire Port, Congo to be developed following AD Ports Group’s HoT signing

AD Ports Group has signed a Head of Terms (HoT) agreement with the Ministry of International Cooperation and Promotion of Public Private Partnership of the Republic of Congo to build a new multipurpose terminal in Pointe-Noire. The agreement gives AD Ports Group the exclusive right to invest in the development, operation, and management of the “New Mole Port”, which will handle containers, general cargo, break-bulk, and other types of cargo. The Group will provide the new facility with digital services and technology solutions to enhance its efficiency, including the design, implementation, and operation of a single-window, software development, digital architecture, business analytics, digital operations support, and digital transformation. The HoT agreement will run for one year from the date of signing and could lead to a concession agreement subject to technical, legal, commercial, and environmental due diligence.

Pointe Noire is the primary commercial center of Congo, and its port plays a crucial role in the economy and development of the nation and the wider region. The new multipurpose terminal at the Port of Pointe Noire is expected to provide significant potential, particularly given the port’s key role in the energy sector. AD Ports Group’s Managing Director and Group CEO, Capt. Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, said that the company is working with partners to develop world-class port, logistics, and maritime facilities in key commercial hubs. He expressed his gratitude for the support of the UAE’s leadership in enabling the company to develop this new opportunity and supporting their international ambitions.

The Minister of International Cooperation and Promotion of Public-Private Partnership of the Republic of Congo, Denis-Christel Sassou Nguesso, praised AD Ports Group’s excellent reputation in creating innovative port and maritime facilities and expressed confidence that their expertise and global network would help establish the “New Mole Port” as a top-performing port on the central west coast of Africa.

Under the HoT agreement, AD Ports Group will have the right to invest in the new multipurpose terminal’s development, operation, and management. The Group will leverage its expertise in technology solutions to enhance the port’s efficiency and provide digital services. These include the design, implementation, and operation of a single-window, software development, digital architecture, business analytics, digital operations support, and digital transformation.

The new multipurpose terminal is expected to further boost Congo’s economy and development by increasing trade and promoting efficient cargo handling. The port’s location in Pointe Noire is critical for the country’s energy sector, making the new terminal a strategic investment for AD Ports Group.
