Hollywood heartthrob Ben Affleck has recently announced his exciting new collaboration with Dunkin’ Donuts, following his viral commercial debut during the 2023 Super Bowl. The actor and director has returned to a real Dunkin’ location in his hometown of Boston to film the new spot, which he also directed.

In a teaser clip for the commercial, Affleck is seen arriving at the store to pitch a “great” coffee and donut deal, chatting to the staff about the challenge of creating an “authentic” and “meta” advertisement. “It’s like I’m doing a commercial, but am I doing a commercial,” he muses to the confused cashiers. “I’m a real actor. This is an art form for me.”

As the ad progresses, the Dunkin’ employees (who are in fact actors) mistake Affleck for his longtime friend and fellow actor Matt Damon, asking him if he was in Martin Scorsese’s The Departed. Affleck is quick to correct them, but still finds himself debating the quality of Damon’s work. “I love his work,” says one cashier, prompting Affleck to respond with a sigh and a reluctant “some of his work.”

In a recent interview, Affleck discussed his new production company Artists Equity, which he co-founded with Damon, and revealed details about his latest directorial project, Air. The movie tells the story of Michael Jordan and Nike’s groundbreaking sneaker deal.

This is the second time Affleck has teamed up with Dunkin’ Donuts, following his first commercial during the Super Bowl. In that ad, he surprised real customers at a Massachusetts drive-thru, including his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez. The location is significant for Affleck, who grew up in Boston and has remained a proud advocate for the city throughout his career.

As Affleck’s star continues to rise, we can’t wait to see what he’ll do next – whether it’s on the big screen or in the world of advertising. One thing’s for sure: he’ll always be the ultimate Boston boy.
