Abu Dhabi, September 6, 2023 (WAM) – Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, inaugurated the annual ‘Government as an Incubator of Tolerance’ forum today. This event serves as a hub for promoting tolerance under the theme “Cultivating the Principles of Tolerance and Coexistence.” The Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence organized this forum in collaboration with various ministries and federal and local authorities participating in this significant initiative.

Distinguished dignitaries present at the forum included Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade; Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to the UAE President; Dr. Mohammed Matar Al Kaabi, Chairman of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments; Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Community Development Department in Abu Dhabi; Hessa bint Issa Buhumaid, Director-General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai; and Afraa Al Sabri, Director-General at the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence. Moreover, the event saw the participation of representatives from over 55 federal and local ministries and authorities, 60 ambassadors from friendly countries to the UAE, and numerous leaders from the local, federal, and private sectors.

Addressing the gathering, Sheikh Nahyan emphasized the forum’s significance as an opportunity to underscore the role of tolerance and human fraternity in the UAE’s progress and development. He also celebrated the efforts of the tolerance committees within ministries and government entities, comprising talented individuals dedicated to contributing to the nation’s growth.

Furthermore, Sheikh Nahyan encouraged everyone to actively participate in the success of COP28, showcasing exceptional and creative initiatives related to tolerance. He stressed the importance of cooperation to promote the values of tolerance and human brotherhood in building a sustainable community, aligning with a common vision.

The forum’s agenda centered on highlighting the accomplishments of the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence and federal and local government entities in implementing the Government Incubator of Tolerance initiative. It served as a valuable platform for sharing expertise and best practices in promoting tolerance and coexistence among the participating entities.

Throughout the forum, participants discussed the best practices adopted by government institutions, showcasing the innovative initiatives of four government entities dedicated to fostering tolerance. The event concluded by recognizing the excellence of 29 ministries and entities for their achievements in fulfilling the initiative’s objectives.

Moreover, the forum celebrated the significant accomplishments of the initiative over the past four years. Presently, the initiative encompasses 44 federal and local ministries and entities, with each entity establishing a tolerance committee. These committees successfully organized 1,259 initiatives, programs, and events, while conducting 1,520 measurements using the tolerance measurement index.

Additionally, the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, in collaboration with relevant ministries and entities, conducted 56 training programs that benefited 85 federal and local entities. These programs were attended by 1,471 government employees. Notably, the initiative introduced the first global standard for tolerance and coexistence, which extended its reach globally through the participation of six countries in the international initiative, “World Governments as Incubators for Tolerance.”

The annual ‘Government as an Incubator of Tolerance’ forum exemplifies the UAE’s commitment to fostering tolerance, diversity, and harmony, both domestically and on the global stage. The event serves as a testament to the nation’s dedication to creating a more inclusive and peaceful society.
