The virtual foundation stone laying ceremony of Bharat Mart in Dubai, a hybrid marketplace for Indian businesses, signifies a significant step forward in the bilateral relations between India and the UAE. Constructed by DP World, Bharat Mart aims to provide Indian micro, small, and medium enterprises with access to global markets, leveraging the strategic location and logistical capabilities of Jebel Ali port.

During the virtual event, both leaders highlighted the potential of Bharat Mart to enhance bilateral trade between India and the UAE. Positioned at Jebel Ali Port, Bharat Mart seeks to serve as a platform for Indian businesses to expand their presence in international markets across the Gulf, West Asia, Africa, and Eurasia regions.

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi engaged in a bilateral meeting with Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Dubai, where discussions spanned various areas of bilateral cooperation, including trade, investment, technology, space, education, and cultural exchanges. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the growing economic ties between the two nations, emphasizing the importance of agreements such as the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and the recently signed Bilateral Investment Treaty.

Recognizing the valuable contribution of the Indian diaspora to Dubai’s global stature in trade, services, and tourism, Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude to Sheikh Mohamed for his support to the Indian community. He also appreciated the allocation of land for the establishment of an Indian Community Hospital, aimed at providing affordable healthcare services to Indian blue-collar workers in Dubai.

In a gesture of further strengthening ties, Prime Minister Modi extended an invitation to Sheikh Mohamed to visit India at his earliest convenience, reaffirming the commitment to deepening mutual understanding and cooperation between the two nations.
