DIFC to Host Inaugural Future Sustainability Forum, Aiming for Global Climate Action and Financial Innovation
Dubai is gearing up to solidify its position as a leading advocate for global climate change action and groundbreaking sustainable finance innovation through the upcoming launch of the Future Sustainability Forum, also known as “The Forum.”
The event, hosted by the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), a prominent global financial hub in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) region, is scheduled to take place from October 4th to 5th, 2023, at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton, DIFC.
The Future Sustainability Forum is set to be a platform to highlight Dubai’s unwavering commitment to pioneering sustainable practices within the financial ecosystem and to propel the global sustainability agenda forward, aligning with the journey towards COP28.
The event is expected to draw over 1,000 influential figures from governments and industries across 30+ countries. These participants will underscore the crucial link between finance and sustainability, exploring avenues to expedite the worldwide transition toward sustainable economies. The agenda boasts keynote addresses by notable figures, including H.E. Essa Kazim, Governor of DIFC, and Arif Amiri, CEO of DIFC Authority. Additionally, there will be enlightening fireside chats featuring H.E. Mariam Bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheiri, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, UAE, and Honourable Quincia Gumbs-Marie, Minister of Sustainability, Innovation, and Environment, Government of Anguilla.
The Future Sustainability Forum will offer a platform to showcase the UAE’s dedication to sustainability, particularly within the financial sector. It will provide a forum for global experts to exchange insights and cultivate collaborations aimed at fostering a low-carbon, climate-resilient future. The discussions and panels are poised to delve into various pivotal topics, including ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) integration, pathways to achieving Net-Zero emissions, and strategies for transforming capital to drive low-carbon transitions.
The Forum’s agenda is closely aligned with the ambitious long-term objectives of the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030. This alignment reflects the global commitment to combatting climate change and advancing sustainability on a worldwide scale.
