The Arizona State University is set to launch a Gujarati version of an entrepreneurship training program, with an MoU being signed with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, as announced by United States Consul General Mike Hankey on Wednesday. Hankey, with nearly two decades of diplomatic experience, expressed that the current relationship between India and America is exceptionally warm and deep.

During the inauguration of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 on Wednesday, the US Consul General addressed a seminar by the US-India Business Council (USIBC).

In a conversation with The Indian Express at the summit, Hankey mentioned that the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University is preparing to introduce a localized Gujarati language version of an entrepreneurship training program. This initiative is part of its 100 million learner’s program, aiming to reach 100 million learners globally by 2030. The course will be accessible online.

Regarding the potential visit of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who the Gujarat government has reportedly been trying to bring on board for the summit, Hankey stated, “It is a private company, I don’t have any information about it.” He emphasized that the US government is committed to building pathways and partnerships, expressing confidence that once the path is clear, US companies will excel in their work.

Speaking specifically about West India, Hankey mentioned ongoing efforts, including a trade delegation in March bringing cutting-edge US technology in solid waste management and environmental protection. He stressed the importance of US companies not just coming to India to sell products but also developing partnerships, producing with Indian partners, and collectively selling with Indian partners globally.

At the summit, potential areas of collaboration between the US and India, according to Hankey, include technology and education.
