More than a million Britons visited Dubai last year, representing a 148% increase over 2021 numbers. Latest figures from the emirate’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) show that overall tourism figures almost doubled year on year. In 2022, Dubai received 14.36m visitors – up from 7.28m in 2021 – which is approaching pre-pandemic visitor numbers of 16.73m in 2019.

Dubai is a popular tourist destination and attracts millions of visitors from around the world each year, including a large number of British tourists. The city offers a diverse range of attractions, including world-class shopping, dining, and entertainment options, as well as iconic landmarks and natural wonders.

Dubai has long been a popular destination for tourists from around the world, and in the year 2022, the city welcomed more than one million Britons. This significant influx of visitors from the UK highlights the city’s appeal and demonstrates its ability to attract a diverse range of travelers from different countries.

Located in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai is known for its modern infrastructure, warm weather, and luxurious lifestyle. The city is home to numerous world-class hotels, shopping malls, and dining options, making it an attractive destination for leisure travelers. Additionally, its well-developed transportation system and strong business environment make it a popular choice for business travelers as well.

One of the biggest draws of Dubai is its shopping. The city is home to some of the largest shopping centers in the world, such as the Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates, which offer a wide range of luxury brands and high-end fashion. Dubai also offers a unique shopping experience with its traditional souks, where visitors can purchase traditional goods such as spices, textiles, and jewelry.

Beyond shopping, Dubai offers a diverse range of tourist attractions, including iconic landmarks like the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, and the Burj Al Arab, one of the world’s most luxurious hotels. The city is also home to world-class beaches, theme parks, and natural wonders such as the Dubai Fountain and the Miracle Garden.

Another factor that makes Dubai a popular destination for Britons is its visa-free access for UK passport holders. This ease of access, combined with the city’s warm weather, modern infrastructure, and diverse range of attractions, has made it a popular choice for holidaymakers from the UK.

While the global economy remains in a state of flux, Dubai has emerged as a clear leader in the tourism industry. “The robust performance is a testament to Dubai’s growing role at the vanguard of global tourism recovery,” says Helal Saeed Almarri, director general of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism.

Dubai’s ability to welcome more than one million Britons in 2022 highlights its appeal as a tourist destination. Whether travelers are seeking a luxurious shopping experience, iconic landmarks, or warm weather, Dubai offers something for everyone. Its strong infrastructure, strong business environment, and ease of access for UK passport holders will continue to make it a popular destination for British tourists for years to come.
