Emirati fighters showcased their exceptional prowess at the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship in Ulan Bator, Mongolia, securing a remarkable victory and topping the medals table for the fourth consecutive time.

The final day of the championship saw an impressive display of skill and determination, with the UAE team adding four golds, two silvers, and a bronze to their haul, bringing their total tally to eight golds, four silvers, and three bronze medals.

The gold rush commenced with Hamdah Al Shkeili’s splendid victory in the women’s 48-kilogram final, where she triumphed over Laetitia Boes of France. Filled with indescribable happiness, Al Shkeili expressed her joy and gratitude for the support and sacrifices made by the national team in preparation for this momentous event. Looking ahead, she emphasized the team’s ambition to continue achieving more titles and maintaining their global dominance.

Shamma Al Kalbani, the leading Emirati jiu-jitsu female fighter, continued the gold streak in the 63kg weight category, defeating Ra Ki-sung of Korea in the final. Al Kalbani and her teammates entered the arena with unwavering determination and focus, determined to retain their title. Their resounding success in the championship motivates them to seek further victories in the upcoming tournaments scheduled for the second half of the year.

In the men’s division, Theyab Al Nuaimi secured gold in the 56kg weight category after an intense battle against fellow Emirati Omar Al Suwaidi. Proud of the team’s achievements, Al Nuaimi highlighted the significance of the UAE national anthem playing multiple times, underscoring their dedication and hard work.

The final in the 77kg category showcased a remarkable family affair, with Mahdi Al Awlaqi emerging victorious over his younger brother Faraj. For Al Awlaqi, the victory wasn’t about individual glory but a testament to the homeland’s progress and the nation’s unwavering support for its athletes.

Adding to the UAE’s success on the podium, Mohammed Ali Al Suwaidi won bronze in the 69kg category, further enhancing the team’s overall performance.

Abdulmunam Al Hashemi, President of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, paid glowing tribute to the team’s exceptional talents, particularly the gold medalists in the women’s division – Shamma Al Kalbani, Hamdah Al Shkeili, and Balqees Al Hashemi, who secured her gold on the championship’s opening day. Al Hashemi commended the emergence of numerous talents within the UAE team, praising the remarkable prowess of Emirati girls who continue to excel in various fields, including sports.

The President expressed admiration for the gold medalists, considering them role models for all Emirati girls aspiring to challenge, excel, and prove themselves. He acknowledged the unwavering support and opportunities provided by the UAE’s wise leadership, which played a pivotal role in the team’s success at both continental and global levels.
