Commando Group Emerges Victorious at AJP Tour UAE National Jiu-Jitsu Championship

The AJP Tour UAE National Jiu-Jitsu Championship, a collaboration between the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and the Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro (AJP), concluded with Commando Group clinching the top spot. Held at the Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City, the event showcased both amateur and professional divisions, with Commando Group fighters displaying their dominance throughout the final day.

Baniyas secured second place, while Al Jazira claimed the third spot in the highly competitive championship. The prestigious event was attended by prominent figures including Abdel Moneim Al Hashemi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Deputy Chairman of the UAEJJF, and representatives from various clubs, academies, and partners.

Mansour Al Dhaheri, Board Member of the Federation, expressed his satisfaction with the championship, stating that it provided a platform for skilled professionals holding black, brown, and purple belts to showcase their talent. The event also highlighted emerging talents in the Kids and Youth categories, emphasizing the future of the sport. The championship aimed to facilitate the growth of amateur athletes and their progression towards professionalism, aligning with the Federation’s vision of establishing a strong foundation of athletes capable of excelling globally.

The Commando Group Jiu-Jitsu Academy – Abu Dhabi made a significant impact on the tournament, with over 200 athletes representing the academy across various categories, including the professional division. The Commando Group athletes delivered exceptional performances throughout the event, while Sharjah Self Defense Sports Club claimed the top position on the opening day.

Christian Lara, coach and athlete of the Commando Academy, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, emphasizing the strength of their squad, which includes local fighters and top-ranked South American athletes. The tournaments hold immense importance for their fighters, as they earn points to enhance their rankings and secure priority participation in major upcoming events, especially the highly anticipated Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship.

Tareq Al Bahri, General Manager at AJP, highlighted the impressive participation in the championship, especially considering it was held during the summer and holiday period. The event’s significance lies in providing 1000 AJP ranking points and serving as preparation for major championships, particularly the highly awaited Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship.

Athletes from diverse countries, including the UAE, Colombia, and Brazil, participated in the AJP Tour UAE National Championship, showcasing the global appeal of the sport. The championship provided a valuable opportunity for athletes to assess their readiness for upcoming international competitions in the coming months, particularly the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship scheduled for early November.
