Ramadan 2023: A new charitable campaign called 1 Billion Meals Endowment has been launched by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives in the UAE. The initiative aims to fight hunger and address humanitarian challenges globally, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030. Hesham Abdulla Al Qassim, Vice Chairman and Managing Director at Emirates NBD and Chairman of Emirates Islamic, lauded the campaign as an efficient and organized way of pooling contributions to maximize charity efforts, which reflects the UAE’s message of generosity to the world.

The 1 Billion Meals Endowment campaign is the latest addition to the portfolio of dozens of humanitarian and charity projects around the world by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives. The UAE, through this campaign, reinforces its role as an active contributor to the fight against hunger and other humanitarian challenges.

To make donations and contributions to the endowment fund, institutions and individuals have several channels to choose from. These include the campaign’s website (www.1billionmeals.ae), a dedicated call center via the toll-free number (800 9999), and bank transfers in the UAE dirham to the campaign bank account number with Emirates NBD (AE30 0260 0010 1533 3439 802). Contributions via SMS are also possible, with the option to donate Dh1 daily through a monthly subscription by sending the word “Meal” to 1020 for du users, or to 1110 for Etisalat by e& users. The DubaiNow app also has a “Donations” tab where users can donate to the campaign.

This initiative is expected to inspire many to participate and make a difference, especially during these challenging times when many people around the world face hunger and other humanitarian issues. Earlier, with a contribution of Dh25 million, Tiger Group joined a growing list of individuals, businesses and institutions announcing their support of 1 Billion Meals Endowment campaign, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to establish the largest Ramadan sustainable food aid endowment fund.

The campaign has inspired a remarkable response from businesses and individuals racing to donate and express the values of giving and generosity rooted in the UAE community while sending a message of solidarity to underprivileged populations around the world. Tiger Group pledged to contribute Dh25 million over a period of 5 years, to help implement sustainable measures to fight and eradicate hunger within an institutional framework.
