Emirates reveals its new distinctive design for its aircraft fleet

Emirates, the largest international airline, has unveiled a refreshed livery for its aircrafts. According to Sir Tim Clark, the President of Emirates Airline, the livery is the most recognizable visual representation of an airline’s unique identity, which is proudly displayed in all the cities that the airline flies to across the world. The refreshed design retains the key elements of Emirates’ identity, such as the UAE flag on the tailfin and the Arabic calligraphy.

The new design includes a more dynamic and flowing UAE flag on the tailfin, with a 3D effect artwork, and red wingtips with the Emirates logo in Arabic calligraphy “popping” out in reverse white. Passengers on board with a window view will be able to see the UAE flag colors painted on the wingtips facing the fuselage. The gold lettering of the Emirates name across the main body in English and Arabic is also bolder and 32.5% larger. The iconic red branding, introduced in 2005, has been retained on the aircraft belly. The website URL “Emirates.com” has been dropped from the design.

This is the third iteration of Emirates’ official aircraft brand colors. The original livery was unveiled at the launch of the airline in 1985 and was refreshed 14 years later with the delivery of Emirates’ first Boeing 777-300 at the 1999 Dubai Airshow.

The first aircraft to sport the new livery is an Airbus A380, A6-EOE, which has just rolled out of Emirates Engineering after its makeover. Its first deployment will be to Munich on 17 March as flight EK51. The rest of the existing Emirates fleet will gradually be updated with the new livery, with 24 aircraft, including 17 Boeing 777s, expected to have the refreshed livery by the end of 2023. All new Emirates aircraft, starting from the first Airbus A350 joining the fleet in August 2024, will be delivered with this new livery.

Emirates’ original livery in 1985 was designed by UK design company Negus & Negus. All of the airline’s subsequent aircraft colors were created by its in-house design team. Over the years, Emirates’ numerous colorful and eye-catching aircraft liveries have included bespoke designs to drive sponsorship brand association, and for special occasions such as the UAE’s 50th Jubilee livery, and Expo 2020 Dubai.

Emirates is known for its commitment to innovation and providing its passengers with an exceptional travel experience. The airline has won numerous awards and accolades for its world-class service and luxurious amenities, including its on-board entertainment system, gourmet cuisine, and luxurious seating.

In addition to its commitment to providing its passengers with an exceptional travel experience, Emirates has also been actively involved in supporting various social and environmental initiatives around the world. The airline has donated millions of dollars to charitable organizations and has implemented numerous sustainability initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint and protect the environment.

Emirates’ refreshed livery is a visual representation of its commitment to innovation and maintaining its unique identity while keeping up with the changing times. With this new design, Emirates continues to set the standard for airline branding and provides its passengers with a modern and sophisticated travel experience.
