The World Jewellery Design Awards (WADA) recently concluded its 2nd Judges Conference at the prestigious JCK Las Vegas jewelry trade show. This gathering brought together renowned jewelry industry experts and designers from across the globe to evaluate the top 100 entries in this year’s World Jewellery Design Competition, with a particular focus on CAD design.

The WADA Awards, organized by the UAE-based World Academy of Design in collaboration with the Dubai Jewellery Group (DJG), aim to showcase the finest global jewelry designs and promote the export of jewelry from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This competition serves as a platform for talented designers worldwide to exhibit their skills and gain recognition on an international scale.

The competition has proven instrumental in providing designers with access to cutting-edge CAD technology, which may not be readily available in their home countries or within their financial means. By offering favorable conditions for design and manufacturing in Dubai, the competition aims to establish the city as the global capital of jewelry design. This initiative significantly enhances the profile of the UAE’s jewelry industry, positioning the country as a hub for creativity and innovation in the field and attracting leading designers from around the world.

The Las Vegas conference featured keynote speeches from prominent figures in the jewelry industry and UAE government officials. The panel of judges meticulously evaluated numerous entries across multiple categories, including fine jewelry, formal jewelry, and bridal jewelry.

“We are thrilled to have hosted the 2nd Judges Conference for the WADA Awards at the UAE Pavilion in JCK Las Vegas,” said Mohammad Ali Al Kamali, Deputy CEO of Dubai Industries and Exports. “This conference has allowed us to bring together incredibly talented and innovative designers from around the world, enabling them to showcase their work and exchange ideas. Events like these play a crucial role in promoting the growth of the jewelry industry and driving exports from the UAE.”

When asked about the judging criteria, Ms. Mahima Verma, CEO and Co-Founder of the World Academy of Design, mentioned the importance of balancing the theme, wearability, and creativity in the jewelry designs. This approach ensures that the winning designs excel in all aspects of craftsmanship and aesthetic appeal.

The winners of the World Jewellery Design Competition will be unveiled during a grand awards ceremony scheduled to take place in Dubai on November 22, 2023. This highly anticipated event is expected to attract jewelry professionals and enthusiasts from around the world, further solidifying the UAE’s reputation as a global center of excellence in jewelry design.
