UAE’s EDGE Group Acquires 50% Stake in Brazilian SIATT, Paving the Way for Advanced Defence Collaboration
The UAE’s EDGE Group, a global leader in advanced technology and defense solutions, has announced its acquisition of a 50% stake in SIATT, a Brazilian specialist in smart weapons and high-tech systems. The official signing of the acquisition deal took place at SIATT’s headquarters in São José dos Campos, with Faisal Al Bannai, Chairman of the EDGE Group, and senior leadership teams from both organizations present.
This significant acquisition follows a cooperation agreement inked by the two companies in Rio de Janeiro earlier this year and is a pivotal component of a subsequent co-development agreement between EDGE and the Brazilian Navy. The co-development initiative is centered around advanced long-range anti-ship missile technology as part of Brazil’s MANSUP national anti-ship missile project. SIATT plays a crucial role in this project, providing the guidance, navigation, control, and telemetry systems.
Mansour AlMulla, Managing Director and CEO of the EDGE Group, stated, “EDGE is committed to strategic collaborations with key industry players in Brazil, either through investments or partnerships. Our objective is to develop cutting-edge defense capabilities and related technologies. As part of our Latin America development roadmap, particularly in the Brazilian market, we are embarking on the development and manufacturing of the next generation of high-performance, competitively priced smart weapons and solutions. Together with SIATT, we aspire to become significant market players in high-tech defense systems.”
Founded in 2015 and headquartered in São José dos Campos, SIATT specializes in integrating systems with high technological content, offering solutions tailored to the defense and aerospace sectors.
Rogerio Salvador, CEO and co-founder of SIATT, expressed pride in the company’s role as a regional leader in advanced missile technology. He stated, “EDGE’s investment in our expertise and renowned capabilities underscores the exceptional quality of our products and systems. This collaboration will allow us to leverage EDGE’s global reach and multifaceted international experience to jointly develop the next generation of smart weapons solutions for our respective Armed Forces and other defense customers. As a Brazilian Strategic Defense Company, SIATT remains steadfast in its commitment to enhancing national sovereignty.”
Hamad Al Marar, President – Weapons & Missiles at EDGE Group, highlighted the importance of forging mutually beneficial relationships and the visionary leadership of the UAE and Brazil in building sovereign capabilities and driving economic growth. He noted, “Our acquisition of a 50% stake in SIATT perfectly exemplifies this approach. It enables us to combine our expertise in smart weapons and high-tech systems, both areas of focus for EDGE, and explore collaboration opportunities to enhance technologies and capabilities in the UAE and Brazilian markets.”
Vice Admiral Marco Antonio Ismael Trovão de Oliveira of the Brazilian Navy commended EDGE’s dedication to supporting the Brazilian defense industry and the development of national capabilities. He stated, “EDGE’s acquisition of a significant shareholding in SIATT demonstrates its commitment to strengthening our mutual goals of enhanced security and economic prosperity, both domestically and abroad.”
SIATT’s product portfolio encompasses intelligent weapons such as missiles and guided munitions, along with their integration onto aircraft, naval vessels, tanks, and land vehicles. The company also excels in radar, sensor, and avionics systems technologies.
