Many emirates announced programmes to encourage motorists to pay off any traffic fine breaches they may have accumulated over the UAE National Day vacations. Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, and Fujairah announced a 50% reduction on most traffic infractions, as well as the elimination of black points and vehicle impoundment fines.

According to the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI), the UAE Cabinet has authorized a decision to forgive 50% of penalty for violations of operating card renewal and cancellation under Federal Law No. 9 of 2011.The partial waiver applies to fines imposed on MoEI-licensed land transport companies between the date the federal law and associated exec utive rules were enacted and November 11, 2022.

The UAE government has announced a new policy that will forgive 50% of fines for violations of land transport licenses. This may serve to reduce the financial strain on people and enterprises that have incurred these fines, as well as encouraging greater compliance with UAE land transport legislation.

Before transporting persons or commodities, companies are required by federal legislation to be licensed by MoEI and get an operating card for their land vehicles. Hassan Mohammed Al Mansouri, the MoEI’s Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Transport Affairs, stated, “The partial waiver would relieve financial pressure on these enterprises while also assisting the transportation sector in growing and improving its competitiveness. The Cabinet decision underlines the government’s desire to create an appealing business climate for both domestic and international investors in this area.”

“The partial waiver encourages land transport businesses to comply with the law and makes the industry more appealing to investors,” said Sheikh Nasser Al Qasimi, Assistant Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Transport Regulatory Sector at MoEI. Sheikh Al Qasimi advised land transportation businesses to take advantage of the partial waiver, which went into effect in early 2023. Fines collected before to December 1 will be included in the concession. Nonetheless, it excludes significant offences.
