UAE says all events serving alcohol need CID approval from February 15

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has implemented a new regulation requiring all events that serve alcohol to obtain approval from the country’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) starting from February 15. This new rule applies to all events that plan to serve alcohol, including public and private gatherings, corporate events, concerts, and festivals.

The move comes as part of the UAE government’s efforts to enhance public safety and prevent alcohol-related crimes. The CID is responsible for granting permits to organizations that plan to serve alcohol at events, ensuring that all safety and security measures are in place to prevent any incidents.

According to the new regulation, all organizations that plan to serve alcohol at events must apply for a permit at least five days before the event. The CID will review each application and assess the safety measures put in place by the organizers. If the CID deems that the event poses a risk to public safety, the permit will be denied.

The new regulation also requires that all events serving alcohol appoint a licensed security company to manage the safety of the event. This includes preventing intoxicated guests from entering the event and ensuring that attendees do not drive under the influence of alcohol.

Failure to obtain a permit from the CID for events serving alcohol can result in penalties, fines, and legal action against the organizers. The regulation applies to all individuals and organizations that plan to serve alcohol, including hotels, restaurants, and clubs.

UAE alcohol rules at events changed

All events, both commercial and non-commercial, must apply for the permit in advance says the circular.

The permit must be applied for at least 14 days in advance of the event.

In order to apply for the CID alcohol permit, the following documents are needed:

  • Valid Emirates ID
  • DET permit (as per event/entertainment type provided by hotel)

The circular sent to venues in the United Arab Emirates says: “The hotel’s obligation to secure CID Alcohol Permit to serve alcohol for the event is conditional upon the UAE CID and DET regulatory requirements and laws then prevailing, submission of required documentation and payment of CID Permit”

The UAE has strict laws regulating the consumption and sale of alcohol in the country. Alcohol is only available in licensed establishments, and individuals must have a permit to purchase and consume alcohol. The new regulation is another step towards ensuring that alcohol is served responsibly in the UAE, promoting public safety and preventing alcohol-related crimes.

The UAE’s new regulation requiring CID approval for all events serving alcohol is a necessary step towards enhancing public safety and promoting responsible alcohol consumption. Organizers must adhere to the regulation and ensure that all safety and security measures are in place to prevent incidents, failure of which can result in penalties and legal action.
