The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced the launch of an AI-powered tutor designed to enhance learning and education in the country. The announcement was made by the UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence during the annual UAE Government Meetings. The announcement was made at the World Government Summit 2023.

The AI tutor will provide personalized learning experiences for students and support teachers in their instructional practices. The platform utilizes machine learning algorithms to analyze student data and provide tailored recommendations for teaching and learning. AI also employs natural language processing to create an interactive learning experience that simulates a real conversation with a tutor.

Addressing a session at the World Government Summit 2023 in Dubai, Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Education, said: “The Ministry of Education will be working with partners like Microsoft, OpenAI and other tech companies to ensure that AI technologies are used to enhance the quality of learning and education.”

AI is being developed in collaboration with the UAE’s Ministry of Education and the National Program for Artificial Intelligence. The platform is set to revolutionize the way students learn and teachers teach, leveraging the latest advancements in AI to deliver a more personalized and effective educational experience.

Commenting on the launch of AI, the UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence said, “We are excited to introduce AI, an innovative platform that uses AI to enhance the learning and teaching experience. This platform will help bridge the gap between traditional teaching methods and the modern, technology-driven approach that is necessary to succeed in the 21st century.”

He added, “AI is part of our larger effort to transform the UAE into a global leader in artificial intelligence and education. With this platform, we hope to provide students with the support they need to succeed and teachers with the tools they need to deliver a world-class education.”

AI tutor will initially be available for middle school students in the UAE, and it will eventually be rolled out to other levels of education. The platform is expected to help address the challenges faced by educators and students, such as achieving learning outcomes, addressing individual learning differences, and personalizing learning experiences.

“Our partnership aims to enhance the learning experience of our students through the use of advanced learning models such as open AI. For this collaboration, the ministry and its partners will work together to develop education tools that can provide students with personal support and resources. This new-age tutor will be designed to improve students’ understanding of the subjects, offer instant feedback and guidance and make learning engaging and interactive,” he said.

He added that the UAE is fully committed to utilising technology to improve the quality of education and to “provide our students with the resources they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world”.

The launch of AI is part of the UAE’s broader strategy to leverage AI to transform key sectors in the country, including education. The UAE is already at the forefront of AI development in the region, with a range of initiatives aimed at fostering innovation and building a strong foundation for the technology’s growth.
