The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has announced its plans to send a trade mission to India, scheduled to take place from the 29th of May to the 2nd of June, 2023. Spearheaded by the SCCI’s Sharjah Exports Development Centre, this initiative aims to strengthen economic and trade cooperation, encourage mutual investments, and forge promising partnerships between the Emirate of Sharjah and India.

Leading the mission will be Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, the Chairman of the SCCI. Joining him will be a delegation comprising SCCI officials and heads of major private industrial and commercial entities in Sharjah. The participation of these prominent figures from both public and private sectors underscores the significance of this trade mission in fostering bilateral relations and promoting economic growth.

The primary objective of this trade mission is to support the SCCI’s strategic goals, which include facilitating foreign expansion and exploring new markets for the benefit of the Sharjah business community and its chamber members. By venturing into the Indian market, the SCCI aims to enhance the competitive standing of the Emirate of Sharjah globally. The mission also aligns with the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and India, which came into effect on the 1st of May, 2022.

The CEPA serves as a framework to promote trade between the UAE and India, stimulating key export sectors and bolstering industrial production across various industries. By actively participating in this trade mission, the SCCI seeks to contribute to the realization of the goals outlined in the CEPA, fostering a mutually beneficial partnership between the two nations.

This trade mission also presents a myriad of investment opportunities for both Sharjah-based businesses and potential Indian partners. With India’s robust and diverse economy, there is immense potential for collaboration in sectors such as technology, manufacturing, tourism, agriculture, and renewable energy. By engaging with Indian counterparts during the trade mission, Sharjah’s business community can explore avenues for joint ventures, strategic alliances, and investment partnerships, leading to long-term growth and prosperity.

Additionally, the SCCI aims to highlight the significance of locally produced goods in the global market. The trade mission will showcase the quality and competitiveness of Sharjah’s products, demonstrating the Emirate’s capability to meet international standards. This endeavor will not only promote Sharjah as a reliable trading partner but also strengthen the presence of its businesses on the global stage.

The SCCI’s trade mission to India is a testament to the Emirate of Sharjah’s commitment to fostering economic growth and promoting international partnerships. By leveraging the opportunities presented by the CEPA and exploring new markets, the SCCI aims to create a conducive environment for trade and investment, benefitting the business community in Sharjah and reinforcing the Emirate’s position as a hub for commerce and innovation.

Leading the mission will be none other than Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, the esteemed Chairman of the SCCI. Accompanying him will be a distinguished delegation comprising SCCI officials and heads of major private industrial and commercial entities in Sharjah. The impressive lineup of participants underscores the significance of this trade mission and highlights the commitment of both the public and private sectors in Sharjah to explore new horizons and unlock the full potential of bilateral trade.

In conclusion, the upcoming trade mission to India led by the SCCI signifies a significant step towards enhancing economic ties and exploring investment prospects between Sharjah and India. By bringing together key stakeholders from both sides, this mission aims to create a platform for collaboration, establish enduring partnerships, and drive sustainable growth for businesses in both nations. With its strategic objectives and the support of the CEPA, the SCCI is poised to strengthen Sharjah’s position in the global market while fostering a mutually beneficial relationship with India.
