In light of the conference, Al-Asheikh highlighted that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is eager to foster joint-Arab efforts that can promote stability and support parliamentary work. By participating in such conferences, the Kingdom aims to show its commitment to enhancing its collaboration with the Arab world and bolstering the stability of the region as a whole.

He commended the special relationship between the Kingdom and Iraq. He said that Saudi Arabia aimed to maintain Iraq’s security and stability and promote the prosperity of its people. He added that a secure and stable Iraq aided the country’s prosperity and that of the wider region.

Through this gathering of Arab leaders, the conference seeks to reinforce Iraq’s sovereignty, which has faced numerous challenges in recent years. The participating countries and institutions will have an opportunity to explore various strategies that can strengthen Iraq’s stability and bolster its parliamentary work.

It is worth noting that this conference comes at a time when the world is still grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic. The event provides a platform for leaders to exchange ideas on how to manage the pandemic’s impact on parliamentary work, while also supporting Iraq’s efforts to mitigate the virus’s spread.

The meeting was attended by Saudi Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef, Shura Council President Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed al-Sheikh and Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir.

The 34th conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union is a significant gathering of Arab leaders and institutions aimed at strengthening Iraq’s stability and sovereignty. With the participation of various regional and international organizations, this event provides a valuable opportunity to discuss strategies for enhancing parliamentary work in Iraq and boosting joint-Arab action to promote stability.

The memorandum of understanding signed between the two councils includes encouraging the exchange of parliamentary delegations, intensifying and developing bilateral cooperation between the two sides, through the exchange of points of view and regular dialogue. It also includes building cooperation and regular dialogue between the two sides in many fields, and exchange experiences in the field of research, studies and information.
