Abu Dhabi Quality & Conformity Council (ADQCC) has introduced a new service aimed at verifying pre-packaged products manufactured in Abu Dhabi. The service ensures that these products adhere to the specifications and conditions outlined in Emirati legislation and standards, particularly regarding the accuracy of information, quantity, and measuring units for volume, length, and area.

One of the primary focuses of the ADQCC is to monitor pre-packaged products and ensure that the information provided on the product labels is accurate. This includes verifying the stated quantity, the appropriate measuring unit, and the validity of the quantity specified for the pre-packaged products. The council also checks the fixed and changeable nominal values of pre-packaged products that are intended for direct sale in Abu Dhabi, as well as locally packed manufactured or imported products using weight, volume, length, area, or number units.

The service for verifying pre-packaged products covers five categories: solid packages, liquid packages, solid packages in liquid (net weight), packages sold in units, and packages sold based on length and area. ADQCC has also successfully implemented the first and second phases of the tire air pressure measuring devices verification service in Abu Dhabi. This initiative aims to enhance road safety and strengthen the integrated transportation ecosystem in line with global best practices and standards. The first phase focused on ADNOC stations and sales outlets, while the second phase targeted tire selling and repair shops.

The launch of these new services is part of ADQCC’s broader plan to develop Abu Dhabi’s quality and conformity services ecosystem. The council aims to improve compliance with relevant legislation and technical regulations, enhance product safety and quality, and contribute to the emirate’s economic growth, societal well-being, and market fairness.

The verification service for tire air pressure measuring devices demonstrates ADQCC’s commitment to prioritize consumer safety and security on the roads. By ensuring compliance with tire air pressure conditions and specifications, the council strives to create safe and fair markets in Abu Dhabi. The service aligns with the mandatory requirements stated in UAE laws and regulations, such as Regulation No. 75 of 2016, which governs legal measuring instruments, and Regulation No. 16 of 2018, which includes 11 measuring instruments, including tire air pressure measuring devices.

Khalaf Al Mazrouei, the ADQCC’s Executive Director for the Markets and Consumers Sector, emphasized that the tire air pressure measuring devices verification service is part of the council’s monitoring role. It fulfills the obligations outlined in the delegation agreement between the council and the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology. The aim is to ensure continuous verification of legal measuring instruments and pre-packaged products throughout Abu Dhabi, including air pressure measuring devices. This effort contributes to individual safety and enhances services across various sectors in Abu Dhabi, following global conformity and quality standards. Al Mazrouei added that the tire pressure verification service aligns with the joint traffic safety committee’s zero-vision strategy, aiming to reduce road accidents and achieve zero fatalities.

The ADQCC is committed to innovating services and initiatives that align with the directives of Abu Dhabi’s leadership and the vision, principles, and targets outlined in the Abu Dhabi 2030 strategy. By enhancing the safety and quality of national products and encouraging compliance with specifications and conformity, the council aims to boost the competitiveness of these products in local, regional, and international markets. Additionally, ADQCC aims to cater to the needs of society, improve living standards, and address consumer complaints through channels such as the Abu Dhabi government’s call center and social media platforms.

The Markets and Consumers Sector at ADQCC plays a leading role in formulating annual plans for monitoring pre-packaged products. This includes conducting visits to important manufacturers and suppliers in Abu Dhabi to verify the packaging of factory-produced or imported goods.
