‘Secret Invasion’ Trailer is Out; Ramps Up Samuel L. Jackson’s Fight to Save Earth
Marvel fans have a lot to look forward to with Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The new phase includes many highly anticipated films and series, such as The Marvels, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Loki Season 2, and Secret Invasion. Marvel Studios has released a new trailer for the latter, and it promises to deliver a darker, more psychological tone that is a significant departure from previous MCU offerings.
The series will star Samuel L. Jackson, who returns as Nick Fury, alongside Ben Mendelsohn as Talos and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill. James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Don Cheadle) and Everett K. Ross (Martin Freeman) will also appear. Secret Invasion introduces several new characters to the MCU, including Emilia Clarke as G’iah, Olivia Colman as Sonya Falsworth, and Kingsley Ben-Adir as Gravik.
The six-episode series follows Fury as he returns to Earth to stop the Skrulls, shape-shifting aliens who are attempting to enact a dangerous plot. Fury will have to use all his skills and knowledge to navigate a world where allies can become enemies in the blink of an eye.
The trailer showcases the show’s darker tone, which promises to delve deeper into the characters, reveal new sides to them, and create a guessing game about who is a Skrull and who is human. The series will be a grittier, more psychological thriller that explores the dangers of espionage and the difficulties of trusting anyone in a world of constant deception.
Fans can catch Secret Invasion exclusively on Disney+ when it premieres on June 21, 2023.
