The Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi (IIT-Delhi) has introduced a summer training programme in Abu Dhabi, led by its esteemed professors, as part of its outreach initiatives for students in the UAE.

IIT-Delhi, a renowned technical and research institute funded by the Indian Government, is all set to establish its offshore campus in the Capital next year. The memorandum of understanding for the international campus was signed during the recent state visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the institute is now actively engaging with students in the UAE.

The current summer programme focuses on immersive mathematics workshops in Abu Dhabi, custom-built to enhance students’ key STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) skills in preparation for university admission exams, including those of IIT-Delhi.

The first phase of the workshops, known as the ‘Summer Outreach Programme,’ took place this week and welcomed over 100 Grade 10+ students with a minimum GPA of 75 per cent in the last academic year, or a result of 80 per cent in science and mathematics subjects.

Throughout the Summer Outreach Programme, IIT-Delhi professors provided a unique learning experience in various fields, including materials science, robotics, human body sciences, principles of design thinking, and drone engineering, among others. The students were engaged in interactive sessions and practical experiments, enriching their understanding and experiences in these relevant domains.

The training will continue from July 24 to August 12 with the School Immersion Programme in Mathematics. This segment will include 30 students who meet the same qualifying criteria, participating in interactive training sessions conducted by leading professors from IIT-Delhi.

The three-week School Immersion Programme will offer advanced learning opportunities in mathematics, covering areas such as integral calculus, differential equations, probability theory, and matrix theory, among others. The students will receive hands-on instruction and guidance from experts in the field, equipping them with valuable knowledge and skills.

Next year, IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi is set to launch its academic programmes, offering a wide range of bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD programmes. The curriculum will encompass diverse disciplines, including energy and sustainability, artificial intelligence, computer science and engineering, healthcare, mathematics and computing, as well as other engineering, science, and humanities fields.

The establishment of IIT-Delhi’s offshore campus in Abu Dhabi marks a significant milestone in the bilateral educational cooperation between India and the UAE. It presents a unique opportunity for UAE students to access world-class education from a prestigious institute in their home country, saving them the need to travel abroad for quality technical and research-oriented studies.

Through these summer training programmes and future academic offerings, IIT-Delhi aims to foster the growth of a highly skilled and talented workforce in the UAE, driving innovation and contributing to the development of various industries in the region. With the support of leading professors and cutting-edge facilities, students in Abu Dhabi can now embark on an enriching educational journey, preparing them to excel in their academic pursuits and make significant contributions to the global scientific and technological landscape.
