Indriksone expressed Latvia’s eagerness to engage Latvian companies in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, which focuses on social reforms and economic diversification.

Following the Saudi-Latvian Business Forum held in Riyadh, Minister Indriksone emphasized the importance of expanding economic cooperation, enhancing bilateral trade, and promoting investments in research, development, and technology. She highlighted the significance of establishing a joint economic committee to facilitate closer ties not only between businesses but also between ministries of both nations.

Indriksone further stated, “The establishment of the joint economic committee will not only be the execution of this specific bilateral agreement (signed in Riyadh) but will also develop different connections not only between the businesses but also between ministries.”

The Saudi-Latvian Business Forum served as a platform for fostering dialogue and exploring opportunities for collaboration between companies from both countries. Representatives from various sectors participated in the forum, seeking avenues to strengthen trade and investment ties.

Latvia views Saudi Arabia as a strategic partner for expanding its economic reach and diversifying its trade portfolio. The Baltic state aims to leverage its expertise and capabilities to contribute to Saudi Arabia’s economic transformation and growth. The Vision 2030 initiative, spearheaded by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, seeks to reduce the country’s dependence on oil revenues and develop sectors such as tourism, entertainment, and technology.

Latvia, known for its advanced technology and innovation-driven industries, sees potential synergies with Saudi Arabia in various areas. These include information technology, agriculture, food processing, renewable energy, logistics, and education.

The minister also highlighted the importance of building stronger people-to-people connections and cultural exchanges between Latvia and Saudi Arabia. Promoting tourism and facilitating travel between the two nations can contribute to fostering mutual understanding and enhancing bilateral relations.

Furthermore, Minister Indriksone highlighted the importance of fostering a conducive business environment and promoting ease of doing business between Latvia and Saudi Arabia. This includes streamlining administrative procedures, facilitating trade logistics, and providing necessary support to companies exploring business opportunities in both countries.

Latvia’s interest in Saudi Arabia as a high-priority market stems from the significant potential for bilateral trade growth. The Kingdom’s robust economy, strategic location, and ambitious economic reforms make it an attractive destination for Latvian businesses looking to expand their footprint in the Middle East.

In recent years, Latvia has witnessed an increase in exports to Saudi Arabia, particularly in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, machinery, electrical equipment, and food products. Strengthening trade ties can further boost these sectors and create new avenues for collaboration across various industries.

The Saudi-Latvian Business Forum served as a platform to discuss key areas of cooperation, including investment opportunities, joint ventures, and knowledge exchange. Both countries recognize the importance of knowledge sharing and technology transfer in driving economic growth and innovation.

The conclusion of the Saudi-Latvian Business Forum marked a significant milestone in the relationship between the two countries. It demonstrated the mutual commitment to deepening economic ties, exploring new avenues of cooperation, and capitalizing on the strengths and resources of each nation.

As Latvia considers Saudi Arabia a high-priority market, it is poised to enhance collaboration and engagement through the establishment of the joint economic committee and other initiatives. By leveraging each country’s strengths and resources, they can achieve shared economic goals and contribute to their respective socio-economic development.
