Two prestigious universities in the United Arab Emirates, Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi and United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) in Al Ain, have once again made their mark by securing positions among the top 300 universities worldwide in the 2024 University Rankings by education analysts Quacquarelli Symonds.

Khalifa University claimed the 230th spot with an impressive overall score of 41.6, while UAEU secured the 290th position with a total score of 35.9.

Expressing their delight at the recognition, a representative for Khalifa University highlighted the institution’s commitment to the UAE’s educational objectives and strategic economic sectors. They emphasized that the university’s top ranking in the UAE affirms its consistent contribution to the knowledge economy in the region.

“We are proud to receive this recognition as we continue to deliver world-class education in line with international standards and best practices,” said the representative. The university remains dedicated to nurturing intellectual capital and maintaining its status as a key contributor to the country’s knowledge economy.

Both Khalifa University and UAEU also featured in the top 300 rankings in the previous year, securing positions at 181st and 296th respectively.

At the pinnacle of the rankings, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States claimed the top spot with a perfect score of 100. The University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, along with Harvard University and Stanford University in the United States, rounded out the top five positions.

The evaluation criteria for the rankings encompassed various factors such as academic and employer reputations, as well as newly-introduced metrics like sustainability and employment outcomes. These measurements were based on the performance of 1,500 universities across 104 different locations.

In addition to Khalifa University and UAEU, four other universities based in the UAE secured positions within the top 600 global rankings. American University Sharjah secured the 364th spot with a score of 30.3, while the University of Sharjah claimed the 465th position with a score of 24.7.

The presence of multiple UAE-based universities in the global rankings highlights the nation’s commitment to excellence in higher education. The continuous recognition of these institutions on a global scale enhances the reputation of the UAE as an attractive destination for students seeking quality education.
