Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products has teamed with pop culture retailer, Fandom to open a Wizarding World inspired pop-up store in Dubai.
The store will open on 10 February in Mall of the Emirates, with a special opening event including the chance to win prizes, take part in contests, play games and take advantage of numerous photo opportunities.
The 1,500sqft barrier-free store will offer a wide range of official licensed products inspired by the Wizarding World including clothes, toys, souvenirs, sweet treats and notebooks from companies such as LEGO, Spin Master, Mattel and Funko to name just a few.
Visitors of the Mall of the Emirates will be able to celebrate the magical world through a range of Harry Potter inspired photo opportunities and product demonstrations. They can choose their wands from The Noble Collection, try on the Hogwarts robes from Rubies and taste a chocolate frog from Jelly Belly and take a picture with a trolley on Platform nine and three quarters.
In addition – and while supplies last – fans who come to the opening in a Wizarding World costume will receive a special ‘magical’ treat from the Wizarding World by Fandom.
The Harry Potter magic
The pop-up comes ahead of the much-anticipated Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park at the Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi.
The coming theme park is being developed by Warner Bros Discovery’s Global Themed Entertainment and Yas Island developer Miral. No opening date has been announced yet.
Since its release in 1997, the Harry Potter series has continued to grip its fans worldwide, with many spin-off variations in the form of theme parks, retail shops and other experiences.
Hogwarts Legacy, a new video game in which players assume the role of a fifth-year Hogwarts student in an immersive, open-world gameplay, is set to be released on Friday. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox X/S.
The Mall of the Emirates pop-up takes inspiration from Harry Potter New York, a flagship Wizarding World store that houses the largest collection of themed merchandise.
The Wizarding World Shop will be open daily at Mall of the Emirates, from 4pm onwards
We predict that muggles and wizards alike will be zipping down quicker than a Golden Snitch mid-Quidditch game as the shop will be selling Hogwarts uniforms (yes, cloaks, ties and wands that any Slytherin, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff would be proud to don).
Other official licensed products inspired by the Wizarding World will include clothes, toys, souvenirs and notebooks.
One of the most exciting draws is that sweet treats such as chocolate frogs and jelly beans inspired by Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans will be able to be purchased too. You will feel like you are in Diagon Alley.
Aspiring wizards and witches will also be able to choose their wands from The Noble Collection and try on the Hogwarts robes if they wish.
Set to be inside Mall of the Emirates, the spot itself is sure to be flocked to for photo opportunities as there will be a Sorting Hat and baggage trolley sunk into a wall just like the one that Harry and his schoolmates must run through in order to get to Platform 9 ¾ to board the Hogwarts Express.
