Priyanka Chopra has recently disclosed in an interview that her role in the upcoming series “Citadel” is the first time she has received equal pay in her 22-year-long acting career. The show stars Richard Madden and Stanley Tucci in significant roles alongside Chopra.

Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden’s upcoming spy thriller Citadel is generating a lot of buzz. The series, which also features Stanley Tucci in a prominent role, marks a significant milestone for Priyanka, who began her career in Bollywood and has been in the entertainment industry for almost 22 years. According to the actress, Citadel is the first project in which she received equal pay. The show is scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on April 28th.

Priyanka Chopra revealed in an interview at the South by Southwest Film Festival (SXSW) 2023 that she received equal pay for the first time in her career for the upcoming spy thriller series, Citadel. She mentioned that in her 22-year-long career, which includes over 70 feature films and two TV shows, she had never received pay parity until she worked on the new series. Chopra said, “I might get into trouble for saying this, depends on who’s watching. I’ve been working in the entertainment industry for now 22 years, and I have done almost 70-plus features and two TV shows. But when I did Citadel, it was the first time in my career that I had pay parity.”

It seems like the actor is expressing their satisfaction with how Amazon Studios handled their pay, despite the fact that they were initially paid less than their co-lead actor for the same amount of investment and work. The actor seems to appreciate that Amazon Studios recognized their value and adjusted their pay accordingly, which they feel is fair.

In Citadel, Priyanka Chopra plays the role of Nadia Sinh, an agent who is presumed to be dead according to official records, but who in reality has had her memory wiped out. The trailer appears to begin with her and another character on a train, where Priyanka is dressed in a striking red dress, portraying the character of a femme fatale. Later, she reveals the truth and needs to recall her memories in order to prevent a catastrophe in the future. The trailer seems to contain high-quality sequences, as expected from a major film, and the chemistry between Priyanka and Richard Madden is reportedly excellent.

The Citadel franchise is an action-packed spy series that features an impressive cast, including Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Osy Ikhile, Ashleigh Cummings, Stanley Tucci, Roland Møller, Lesley Manville, and Davik Silje. The series is being backed by Amazon and directed by the Russo Brothers, who are famous for their work on the Avengers franchise.

In addition to the main series, an Indian version is also in development, which will be headed by Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, two well-known actors in the Indian film industry. The Indian version is being developed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, who are best known for their work on the popular Indian series, The Family Man.

Overall, the Citadel franchise appears to be a star-studded, action-packed series with both international and Indian versions that are sure to captivate audiences around the world. The makers of the Citadel franchise have described it as a “multi-layered global franchise,” with interconnected local language productions in India, Italy, and Mexico. This means that each country will have its own version of the series, which will be connected to the main US version, referred to by Amazon as the “mothership” of the project. This approach suggests that the Citadel franchise will have a truly global appeal, with localized versions that cater to the unique cultural and linguistic preferences of each region. The interconnected nature of the series should also create a sense of unity and continuity across the different productions, making it a truly unique and immersive viewing experience.
