‘Blonde’ won Worst Picture Of The Year by Razzie Awards; Razzies said it “shamelessly exploits the memory of the late Marilyn Monroe.”

The Razzie Awards, which recognize the worst movies of the year, have criticized the film “Blonde” for being disrespectful to Marilyn Monroe’s memory and promoting misogyny and salaciousness. These comments were made prior to the Oscars ceremony, where Ana de Armas, the star of “Blonde,” is nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2023 Academy Awards.

The movie “Blonde” received two Golden Raspberry Awards, also known as the Razzies, along with a unique award for the organization itself. The film, which had eight nominations, was awarded worst picture of the year and worst screenplay for its director Andrew Dominik. According to the Razzies, the film is “misogynistic, salacious and fallacious” and “shamelessly exploits the memory of the late Marilyn Monroe.”

The Razzie Awards, which recognize the worst movies of the year, are announced every year before the Oscars, which will take place on Sunday. Interestingly, Ana de Armas, the star of “Blonde,” is nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2023 Academy Awards.

The Razzies recently criticized themselves for nominating 12-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong for Worst Actress. The organizers acknowledged that Armstrong had been unfairly subjected to online harassment as a result of the nomination, and announced that they would be adopting new voting guidelines to prevent minors from being nominated in the future. They removed Armstrong from the ballot and replaced her with themselves, ultimately “winning by a landslide.”

Tom Hanks won two Razzie Awards for his role in the film Elvis. He was voted as the worst supporting actor and was part of the worst screen combo category for “Tom Hanks & His Latex-Laden Face (and That Ludicrous Accent).” Despite this, Elvis has received eight Oscar nominations, including one for best makeup and hairstyling.

Jared Leto and Adria Arjona, actors in the movie Morbius, were named worst actor and worst supporting actress, respectively, at the Razzie Awards. Tom Hanks was also recognized for his performance in Elvis, winning two categories: worst supporting actor and worst screen combo. The film Morbius was also awarded for worst screen combo, and “Disney’s Pinocchio (NOT del Toro’s!)” was named worst remake, ripoff or sequel. In more positive news, Colin Farrell received the Razzie Redeemer Award, which recognizes a former Razzie contender who has gone on to success in their career. Mark Wahlberg and Val Kilmer were also contenders for the award.
