A distinguished delegation from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Iran, led by Dr. Alireza Zali, President of the institution, visited Thumbay Medicity in Ajman on May 25, 2023. The purpose of the visit was to foster meaningful engagement and establish a foundation for long-term collaborations in knowledge sharing that would benefit both entities.

Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Dr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Thumbay Group, Akbar Moideen Thumbay, Vice President of Thumbay Healthcare, and other senior dignitaries from the management team. The visit commenced with a comprehensive tour of the facilities, which included Gulf Medical University’s educational and research centers, Thumbay Rehabilitation Hospital, Thumbay Dental Hospital, and Thumbay University Hospital. The purpose of the tour was to showcase the state-of-the-art infrastructure, abundant resources, and advanced capabilities available at Thumbay Medicity. This firsthand experience provided the delegation with valuable insights into the operational aspects and the environment in which medical education and healthcare services are delivered. Additionally, the delegation was presented with a video presentation that highlighted Thumbay Group’s extensive activities in medical education, healthcare, research, and upcoming expansion projects.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Dr. Alireza Zali, President of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, praised the facilities at Thumbay Medicity, the high quality of the academic curriculum, and the emphasis on innovation and comprehensive healthcare services provided by Thumbay Group. He commended the vision and strategic direction of Gulf Medical University, noting that the meeting marked an auspicious occasion as a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Gulf Medical University and Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. The MoU aims to explore avenues for bilateral cooperation, including web-based education, online learning platforms, research collaborations, sharing expertise in medical education strategies, discussing policy frameworks, and identifying mutual areas of interest for future cooperation.

The delegation also commended Gulf Medical University for its pioneering efforts in establishing a comprehensive Academic Health System, the first of its kind in the private sector in the region.

In response to the visit, Dr. Thumbay Moideen expressed his gratitude to the delegates and emphasized Thumbay Group’s commitment to establishing strong relationships with healthcare institutions in Iran. He acknowledged Iran’s significant achievements in the field of healthcare and expressed the group’s desire to benefit from these accomplishments. Dr. Thumbay Moideen further outlined Thumbay Group’s three-year strategy to triple its business, set new benchmarks in healthcare and education, and create an environment conducive to student development and knowledge exchange. He also expressed his satisfaction at signing the MoU with Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, which signifies Thumbay Group’s commitment to advancing medical education through global partnerships and the pursuit of knowledge-sharing opportunities.

During the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to witness the advanced technology and cutting-edge infrastructure at Thumbay Medicity, which has positioned itself as a leading healthcare and medical education hub in the region. The delegation members were particularly impressed by the state-of-the-art facilities and the emphasis on providing holistic healthcare services.
