Rege Jean Page, who played the lead role of Simon, Duke of Hastings in the first season of “Bridgerton”, recently revealed the reason why he decided to leave the show. According to Page, his departure was due to a practical reason rather than any creative differences or personal issues.

Rege-Jean Page, the breakout star of the hit Netflix series “Bridgerton,” has finally addressed his departure from the show. In an interview with Vanity Fair, the actor explained his reasons for leaving the show that made him a household name.

Page played the dashing Duke of Hastings in the first season of “Bridgerton,” which became a global phenomenon upon its release in December 2020. However, fans were left disappointed when it was announced that Page would not be returning for the second season.

In the interview, Page revealed that his exit from the show was always part of the plan. “It’s a one-season arc. It’s going to have a beginning, middle, end – give us a year,” he said. “I thought, ‘That’s interesting,’ because then it felt like a limited series. I get to come in, I get to contribute my bit, and then the Bridgerton family rolls on.”

Page also cited his desire to explore different roles and projects as a reason for his departure. “I have nothing but excitement for ‘Bridgerton’ continuing to steam train off and conquer the globe,” he said. “But there is also value in completing these arcs and sticking the landing.”

While Page’s departure was met with disappointment from fans, the show’s creator Chris Van Dusen has confirmed that “Bridgerton” will continue with new storylines and characters in the second season. “We’ll miss [Page] dearly, but the show goes on,” Van Dusen said in an interview with Variety.

Page’s departure from “Bridgerton” has also led to speculation about his future projects. He is set to star in the upcoming spy thriller “The Gray Man” alongside Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, and has also been rumored to be in talks for a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Regardless of what projects Page chooses to pursue next, his charismatic performance in “Bridgerton” has cemented him as a rising star in Hollywood. While fans may miss seeing him as the Duke of Hastings, it’s clear that Page is committed to taking on new challenges and leaving his mark in the entertainment industry.

The expansion of the humanitarian donor base is urged by the EU Crisis Commissioner.

The European Union’s crisis management commissioner, Janez Lenarcic, has called for the expansion of the donor base for global humanitarian aid during his visit to the Delegation of the European Union to Saudi Arabia in Riyadh. Lenarcic noted that the current donor base is narrow, with the 10 largest donors contributing more than 80% of global humanitarian aid, which he believes is neither fair nor sustainable. He urged others who are capable of contributing more to assume greater responsibility for providing humanitarian assistance to those in need.
