Tomorrow, Expo City Dubai will host a youth-led event called ‘Road to COP28.’

Expo City Dubai will be hosting the first-ever COP28 Presidency-hosted and youth-led event, named “Road to COP28,” on Wednesday. This event is an excellent opportunity for young people in the country to come together and raise awareness and mobilize an all-of-society effort towards COP28. The event aligns with COP28’s goal to accelerate global climate action, with all parties and stakeholders working together to achieve the pledges made for future generations.

The day-long event will have three programs, starting with an interactive morning program consisting of workshops that will inspire, educate, and empower young students between the ages of 7 to 15 years to understand and tackle climate change. The afternoon program will include youth circles, debates, workshops, sustainability initiatives, and performances hosted by partners such as the Federal Youth Authority and the Arab Youth Centre. The main evening program will be a platform for the UAE’s leadership to share their ambitions for COP28 alongside youth climate advocates.

The event will revolve around four strategic pillars, namely participation, action, voice, and education, with climate action being the center of the event. The Road to COP28 event will highlight the priorities and principles underpinning COP28, through a varied program of activities to engage with more than 3,000 people, including students, youth in national service, youth climate advocates, people of determination, senior citizens, and more. Moreover, the event will see the launch of key initiatives to enhance youth participation in the UN climate process and amplify the efforts of youth-led and youth-focused organizations in the global climate community.

The event will be attended by COP28 leadership, senior government officials, and ambassadors to the UAE. The event aims to provide a platform for the country’s youth to contribute to the global climate agenda by addressing the most pressing issues and working together to find solutions. The UAE is committed to promoting climate action and sustainable development and has set ambitious targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and transition to a green economy.

The UAE is playing a leading role in the global fight against climate change by hosting COP28 in 2023. COP28 is a crucial moment for the international community to accelerate climate action and make the transition to a net-zero emissions economy. The UAE has already taken several steps towards this goal, such as investing in renewable energy, developing sustainable infrastructure, and promoting green finance.

The Road to COP28 event is an essential stepping stone towards COP28, as it provides a platform for the country’s youth to contribute to the global climate agenda and take ownership of the issue. The event aims to inspire and empower young people to become leaders in the fight against climate change and drive action towards a more sustainable future.
