IBM teams up with e& to enable sustainability adoption in their operations

Etisalat by e& in the UAE has partnered with IBM to integrate IBM’s sustainability software into their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy. The telecom company has committed to monitoring, benchmarking, and enhancing its economic, environmental, and social performance to achieve clear ESG goals and a roadmap towards sustainable practices.

By using IBM’s TRIRIGA Application Suite for real estate and facilities operations, Maximo Application Suite for intelligent asset management, Turbonomic, and Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps, etisalat by e& plans to establish a sustainability foundation and scale their workload dynamically. Leveraging these IBM technologies, the company aims to increase the efficiency of their data center and cloud environments.

Khalid Murshed, Chief Technology Officer of etisalat by e& UAE, expressed enthusiasm for using IBM’s data, artificial intelligence (AI), and automation technologies to support their ESG and sustainability goals, reinforcing their commitment to delivering innovative solutions that have a meaningful impact on people’s lives. He emphasized the importance of sustainable practices in the company’s business model.

The company has made significant progress towards its sustainability goals, demonstrating strong dedication to their ESG agenda. At COP27 in 2022, the company committed to achieving net-zero emissions from its operations by 2030 and actively contributing to global climate action. To reduce their carbon footprint, etisalat by e& focuses on initiatives like improving energy efficiency and renewable energy sourcing.

IBM’s sustainability software will help etisalat by e& transform their operational and environmental data into actionable insights that stakeholders can understand, facilitating effective and scalable sustainability initiatives. Ana Paula de Jesus Assis, Chair and General Manager for EMEA at IBM, emphasized the importance of innovation and developing solutions for clients, stating that IBM’s software can play a critical role in supporting etisalat by e&’s efforts to achieve their ESG and sustainability goals.

In November 2022, etisalat by e& became the first private sector entity in the UAE to join the UAE Independent Climate Change Accelerators (UICCA), committing to collaborate with UICCA’s mission of creating a shared vision and values among public and private entities to build a sustainable future.
