Expo Live, a project of Expo 2020 Dubai, is providing funding for green projects to combat climate change in Expo City Dubai.
Expo City Dubai, the site of the upcoming Cop28 climate summit, is set to fund green projects aimed at fighting climate change. Expo Live, a legacy project of the recently concluded Expo 2020 Dubai, is searching for start-ups with innovative and practical solutions to the global climate crisis. The selected companies will be awarded a $50,000 grant to fund projects related to reforestation, reduction of greenhouse gases, or improving agricultural productivity.
The Expo Live Innovation Programme has already received 430 applications from around the world since its launch earlier this month. The programme aims to identify and mentor outstanding start-ups in the lead-up to Cop28, providing them with the support they need to turn their ideas into reality.
To attend, entrepreneurs must have a registered company and their solution needs to be in the market or close to launch.
“They need to express the positive impact their solution creates for the environment, how it affects food security or adapts to the energy transition,” Mr Caires said.
Successful innovators will also have the opportunity to display their work at Cop28, which is scheduled to be held at Expo City Dubai at the end of the year. This provides an excellent platform for entrepreneurs to showcase their solutions to a global audience and garner support for their initiatives.
Expo Live is committed to promoting sustainable development and supporting green initiatives that have a positive impact on the environment. This programme is just one of the many ways in which Expo City Dubai is championing the fight against climate change and promoting a sustainable future.
The world is facing an urgent climate crisis, and the need for practical and innovative solutions has never been greater. By funding green projects and supporting start-ups, Expo Live is playing a vital role in shaping a better future for us all. The selected companies will not only receive financial support, but also the mentorship and guidance they need to make a real difference in the fight against climate change.
Yousuf Caires, executive director of the Expo Live Innovation Programme, said, “There was always the vision for Expo Live to remain post-Expo, but this round is very special because it’s aligned with Cop. We will give attention to projects that focus on climate-related solutions.”
This year marks the year of sustainability, and with Expo City Dubai hosting Cop28 in November, the project aims to bring innovators to the city to exhibit their work during the two weeks of the conference. This will allow them to gain the necessary exposure, participate in discussions, and connect even further.
Since its launch earlier this month, the Expo Live Innovation Programme has received over 430 applications from around the world. The selected start-ups will have the opportunity to showcase their solutions to the global community, and contribute towards the fight against climate change.
Expo Live’s commitment to environmental solutions demonstrates the growing global awareness and action towards addressing the urgent issue of climate change. Through initiatives such as this, the international community can work towards a more sustainable future, and preserve the planet for future generations.
